Five preventative skin care treatments that helped me look and feel fabulous at 50

At age 50, I can honestly say that I have never felt more comfortable in my own skin physically and psychologically.

As you can see from the photo, the steps I took to take care of my skin have paid off. As a nurse and cosmetic injector, I can experiment with different products and treatments. Not every product or treatment was worth the hype or money.

I want to share the five tried-and-true treatments and strategies that I believe had a huge impact on how I look and feel.

  1. Medical-grade skin care

Some of the drugstore skincare products are excellent, but the medical-grade products such as Vivier have been scientifically formulated to get results. Vivier products meet rigorous standards comparable to those applied to pharmaceuticals, ensuring quality, efficacy and safety. I found the products lived up to the hype and improved the quality of my skin.

Fashion and beauty trends come and go, but beautiful, nourished skin never goes out of style. When you invest in medical-grade skincare products, you will see improvements at any age. Remember, it's never too late to start a new skincare regimen.

  1. Filler

In my article Why a skilled cosmetic injector treats the whole face, not just ‘problem areas’, I recently discussed that when an expert injector treats the whole face, the outcome looks natural , and lasts. I started using fillers to restore volume in my mid 30s. Unless I had a bruise, no one has ever asked, "Did you get filler"? People usually say, "You look rested, your skin looks good". Strategically placed filler, and using the appropriate filler is one of the reasons I still resemble my younger self.

  1. Botox

Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are highly effective for relaxing muscles. that cause a. dynamic wrinkle. They help soften frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles and even play a role in improving the jawline and neck. Neuromodulators are an essential part of my beauty toolbox, but it’s important to keep in mind that they don’t do much to improve the integrity of your skin.

  1. Skin Integrity Procedures

If you follow my blog and social accounts, you will already be familiar with procedures that cause your cells to act younger. Laser peels, collagen induction therapy and RF microneedling are just some examples. I undergo two collagen-induction treatments a year. I recommend you get at least one treatment a year.

  1. Love Life & Laugh

There's some truth to "you're only as old as you feel." I have never lost my sense of humour and playfulness. I take what I do very seriously, but I don't take myself seriously. I am not afraid to take a risk and try something new even if I look silly doing it.

Gratitude is also important. I never take good health, my family and friends for granted. These are gifts to be cherished. Being a good mother, wife, friend and nurse makes me feel beautiful. Of course, I want to look good, but how I feel inside is what radiates out and draws more people to me.

What makes you feel fabulous?
